I’m so excited for this new story. It’s pretty simple and might be just under ten chapters, but we never know. I hope you like it! -Ali
Taylor’s hair whipped past her face as she watched Joe run in front of her. “Hurry up, you’re taking so long!” Taylor gripped her coat tighter as she stepped onto the sand. Joe ran towards the water and held his arms out. Taylor smiled at the moment and took out her Polaroid camera, she snapped a photo. “Stop taking pictures and get over here!” Joe was yelling to her. Taylor walked towards her best friend as she shook her head. She held out the newly produced picture out to Joe. “Sorry I took so long, I had to take this.” He grabbed the photo and nodded. “Not bad, not bad.” Joe laid out a blanket on the sand and sat down. Taylor sat down beside him. They did this yearly, every New Year’s Eve, since Taylor could remember. They would sit at the beach and just talk, talk about their year, talk about anything. Taylor loved doing this. She looked out at the horizon and smiled, they had been doing this for 14 years now. “What do you want this year Taylor, we’re 22 years old and we should do something exciting.” Taylor laid down beside her and sighed. “Finish college.” Joe laughed. “No, we’ll do that. I mean, like traveling, or going on that cruise to the Bahamas, or I don’t know. You and I haven’t done anything like that in a while.” Taylor stretched out her arms. “Alright, so let’s go to the Bahamas.” Taylor laughed. Joe sat up again and looked down at her. “I’m serious Tay. You know what you should do?” Taylor looked at him questionably. “You should get a boyfriend. Yeah, Taylor, you should!” Taylor sat up too. “I’m too busy for that. Besides, whenever I date a person you never like them.” Joe shrugged. “You always want to date idiots.” Taylor knew how right he was though. Dating was not Taylor’s cup of tea though. “What about you? Why don’t you get yourself a girlfriend. I haven’t seen you out with a girl in ages.” Taylor waited for his smart remark but it never happened. Instead she had a pretty good shock. “Ok, well, it’s cause I’ve been trying to tell this girl that I like her but it’s taking me ages.” Taylor raised her eyebrow at him. “Ok…TaylorwouldyougooutwithmesometimecauseIlikeyoualotandIneverknewhowtotellyou.” Taylor took a few moments to take it all in. Joe looked away from her as he waited. Taylor took a deep breath in. “You better take me out somewhere nice if you like me that much.” Joe turned to her and smiled. Taylor wanted to test this out, Joe was a great person and better yet, he knew exactly how she was. “We need to talk about this though, you know what I think about friendships into relationships.” Joe bit his lip. “Alright, so do you want to stay here any longer or do you want to go?” Taylor laid back down. “Just because you said that doesn’t change our tradition Joe.” Joe laid back down too. They stayed there until the sun set. They didn’t talk, didn’t move, they just sat there, happy to know they were right beside each other in that moment.
